In a little pink house in Los Angeles, California, not far from the neighborhood VA hospital, Western Psychological Services (WPS) was founded in 1948. The company’s creator, Dr. Morse Manson, created a psychological exam to aid World War II soldiers in adjusting to life after the military.

The first of numerous psychological and academic tests that WPS will release over succeeding decades was this one. Morse set out on a mission to aid the underprivileged by giving his colleagues in psychology and education top-notch evaluation tools. He was assisted in this endeavor by his wife Kate and son Ira.

65 years later, clinicians across the world utilize WPS examinations to evaluate, identify, and treat those in need, particularly children and teenagers who are struggling with behavioral, social, or developmental issues.

He has provided the business with a lovely home in Torrance, California—a contemporary, open, and welcoming setting that enables us to work more productively. Additionally, he has ushered in a revolutionary corporate culture that promotes cooperation, innovation, and creativity. These adjustments are driven by the conviction that satisfied, empowered, and appreciated workers provide superior support to the professionals who rely on WPS evaluations. Thus, we continue the adventure that started in 1948 in the tiny pink cottage close to the VA hospital here at our new headquarters with new energy and excitement.
