Just like the Huawei Watch GT 2, the Honor Band 5 has Huawei’s TruSleep loaded, which monitors your breathing and sleep, dividing your sleep into periods of light and deep sleep, complete with wacky looking graphics and tips which helps you improve the quality of your kip. Its accuracy isn’t perfect because it completely missed the times we woke up at night unless we literally got out of bed.

As far as daytime life tracking is concerned, the Honor Band 5’s step count was a generous touch when walking, coming in around 300-500 steps more than the Huawei Watch GT2, which matched our Samsung Galaxy. Watch. This shouldn’t alarm you as pedometers are very rarely perfect all day, even if it hits the spot at home, the Band 5 is suitable for casual users.

As for charging, the Honor Band 5 turns on via a base that connects to a micro USB cable and takes about an hour to fully charge.

The most important feature I need from any smartwatch is notifications access on the watch or band’s screen, it’s so convenient to have something on my wrist so I don’t have to take my phone out of my pocket. It is allowing me to ignore as much as possible when I’m busy doing other things.
