West Virginia

Maine

You might not think that there’s much to do in Oklahoma, but the millions of people who live there might disagree with you.

Oklahoma has an economy that is very diverse, so you’ll have a higher chance of finding a job in something you want as well. Some of their biggest industries are manufacturing, natural resource, and agriculture.

The median home price here is around $125,000, and the houses are going fast. It’s predicted that the housing market here will go fast as well.

Colorado

In some places, it’ll be cheaper to rent than buy because so many people are moving here and buying up the houses.

However, aside from the cheap prices, Colorado is one of the best states to live in. Denver, the capital, has all kinds of business opportunities, sports, and entertainment to keep you busy every weekend.

Arkansas

In Arkansas, the average price of a home is around $150,000, making it a great place to settle down if you can’t afford to buy a home anywhere else.

In some cases, you’ll also be able to get a lower mortgage rate when you buy here as well.

The state property tax is also low at .62%. For the average homeowner, this means that you’ll only have to pay about $70 more a month for your home.

Mississippi

Mississippi also has millions of residents, and most of them work in either manufacturing or agriculture here.

The capital, Jackson, is the largest metro area in the state, but it’s always busy with things to do and see. While Jackson might be fun to visit, you should check out Jackson, Greenville, Meridian, and Gulfport for cheaper places to buy a home.

Indiana

In Indiana, the median price of a home is around the same as Mississippi’s. However, if you can’t afford that, there is more affordable housing that you can find for around $48,000.

The property tax is about .86%, so if you’re looking for a place with a low budget, this is one of the best places to live.

Iowa

In Iowa, you’ll be able to find jobs in agriculture, natural resources, information and biotechnology, and also manufacturing.

While Des Moines in the capital here, Omaha Bluffs is the largest metro area in the state.  Des Moines is one of the cheaper cities to live in in the state, but you should also check out Waterloo, Davenport, and Sioux City.

In Iowa, you’ll find homes that sell around $146,000, which is the median price. However, make sure that you buy a house quickly as houses on the market just keep going faster and faster as it becomes a more desirable place to live.

Idaho

You might be surprised to find out that Idaho actually isn’t one of the cheapest places to live. However, there are so many opportunities for outdoor activities that it’s perfect for outdoorsy people.
